Improving Teacher Programme

The Improving Teacher Programme is an innovative and highly successful five week intensive programme developed by Olevi and nationally accredited by the National College for Teaching & Leadership. The programme is suitable for all teachers motivated to improve teaching and learning in their classroom and is designed to:

  • improve the quality of teaching and learning
  • develop a clear understanding of key aspects of good teaching and learning
  • develop partnerships within and between schools
  • enable all participating teachers to deliver consistently good lessons.
  • raise performance in the classroom by developing creative and innovative practices.
  • help participants become more reflective practitioners.

Over the intensive period of the programme delegates will develop a deeper understanding of the key elements of good teaching and learning and will have the opportunity to visit good and outstanding lessons. The programme will focus on essential elements of good teaching and learning and will include:

  • Effective use of lesson starters and plenaries
  • Effective questioning techniques
  • Engaging students in learning
  • Challenging expectations
  • The role of assessment
  • Effective differentiation

All participants will require a mentor from their own school - ideally a Senior Leader. They will provide weekly discussion sessions with participants to help them reflect on their developing practice.
