Encouraging Girls into Maths
On Wednesday 22nd January we welcomed Dr. Sarah Brown and Dr. Katie Severn in from the Mathematics department at the University of Nottingham into school.
The girls learnt about how Sarah was using Maths to develop a treatment for patients suffering from Chronic Asthma and how Katie used Maths to develop a programme which recognises text to filter emails and to solve crimes. Students also learnt about how the finance industry uses Maths to prevent credit card fraud and how they use the behaviour of fire ants to help develop Artificial intelligence and Robotics.
