A Level Results Success

Minster School students, staff and families are celebrating today having received their A Level results. Many students achieved excellent results and are looking forward to beginning their studies at first choice Universities in the next few months.  Others have secured high quality apprenticeships and training places.

Of the more than 130 students completing their final school exams, close to 50% achieved at least 2 grades A*-B and 95% achieved three A Level passes.  The students and teachers deserve congratulations for their efforts.

Teachers and families have been celebrating successes with students this morning, with many individual success stories:

The Minster School has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in the performing arts and music. Eleanor Couch achieved two A* grades in English Literature and Drama alongside an A in Music.  She and her mum were both thrilled with the results and appreciative of the wide-ranging experience, both extra-curricular and academic at The Minster School.

Will Hepworth blew us all out of the water with two A grades in Music, Music Technology, significantly exceeding his predictions.  He is now looking to upgrade his University offer based on these excellent grades to study a degree in Music.

Many other students achieved excellent grades and are looking forward to beginning their degrees in September.  Just a few we caught up with on results morning are featured below:

  • Harriet Hudson-Brightmore achieved A*s in Government and Politics and RE and a B in English Literature.  She will be starting her Law degree at Leeds University in September.
  • Joe Houghton is looking forward to his Economics degree in Newcastle, having achieved an A and two Bs.
  • Lucy Tipple was thrilled to receive her results (straight A grades), supported by her Mum. She is going on to study Psychology at Liverpool University.

Many others achieved clean sweeps of A grades and others significantly exceeded their predictions – congratulations to all students who deserve the fruits of their efforts.

Mr Parris, Head Teacher said : “Seeing students so happy this morning makes all the hard work worthwhile.  Our purpose as a school is to achieve the very best outcomes for students in many different ways, including exam results.  Our year 13 students are now looking forward to their next chapters and I am pleased we have been able to help them on their way.  Our school motto is “succeeding together” and these great results today are a testament to the work of students with families and our committed teachers.  Well done to all.”
