On Monday 21st January a group of year 11 GCSE History students visited the Beth Shalom Holocaust Memorial Centre. Here they undertook a workshop on the idea of persecution and the challenges this poses in terms of certain perpetrators and bystanders.

Students also explored the Centre’s interactive museum exhibits taking a chronological look through the escalating persecution in the 1930’s. In the afternoon students were privileged to listen to a talk from Ruth David, a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor who grew up in Nazi Germany before arriving in England in 1939 as part of the Kindertransport. Ruth never saw her parents again after this as they died during the Holocaust. Students from the Minster behaved impeccably and asked many excellent questions of Ruth during a Q and A session.
