School transport is provided by Nottinghamshire County Council for students living in the catchment area.
Parents living outside our normal catchment area, are normally responsible for any travel expenses involved in getting their child to school and home again. It may be possible to claim travelling expenses and if you wish to do this you should obtain a form TA1 from your Local Area Education Office during the summer term. The Authority makes the decision on all travelling expense claims.
For full information about travel visit the Nottinghamshire County Council website
Music Tuition & Ensembles
Here at The Minster School we are privileged to have a fantastic team of instrumental teaching staff who support the work of our department. As a school we appoint a diverse mix of instrumental staff privately, and through the Nottinghamshire Instrumental and Music Teaching Service (Inspire). These experienced and highly qualified teaching staff both support and encourage our students through weekly, twenty minute (or in certain circumstances thirty minute) instrumental lessons within the Music Department.
Forms to be returned

Cathedral Chorister Opportunity
-
Is your son or daughter musical?
-
Do they enjoy singing?
-
Would they like to take this to the next level?
There are a small number of places available in Southwell Minster Choir for boys and girls entering the Minster School in year 7 this coming September. The Minster Choir has two separate groups, boys and girls, who sing at services in our wonderful Minster. Both groups rehearse at school each morning, singing at services on some evenings during the week and on Sundays. As well as the opportunity to sing at a very high level, they receive lessons in music theory, singing, and one other instrument, all paid for by Southwell Minster. There are exciting moments singing to large groups of people (over 1,000 at each of our Christmas Carol Services) as well as on local and national radio. Southwell Minster Choir also undertakes trips both locally and overseas, and at its heart there is the chance to make new friends.
From September 2020 there will be vacancies for two boys and four girls in year 7. Auditions will be held early in the Summer term, but anyone interested is encouraged to contact the Rector Chori (Director of Music) Paul Provost on rectorchori@southwellminster.org.uk or 01636 817281 to arrange an informal meeting.
More information can be found on the Minster website, www.southwellminster.org
