Who we are...

The MSPTA is a charity registered in England and Wales with the Charity Commission, number 516332. Our aim is to help students and staff of the Minster School by:

  • Raising money so our school can purchase items, which current budgets don’t provide for.
  • Delivering voluntary help for extra-curricular school activities.
  • Encouraging and maintaining close and valued relationships between parents, carers, teachers and the school.

We meet on a monthly basis to plan and organise social and fundraising activities throughout the year as well as organising voluntary help for the school.   All are welcome. Please join us at the Hearty Goodfellow, Church Street, Southwell NG25 0HQ on the first Monday of the month at 7.30pm. If there is a school break or bank holiday, we would meet the first Monday after this.

Follow us on Facebook for all the latest news, including meeting dates: www.facebook.com/MSPTASouthwell.

If you want to have an informal chat about any home/school related issues, we’re here to listen and, if necessary, we can raise areas of interest or concern with the school.

There is also a teacher representative on the MSPTA to act as a liaison between the school and parents.

Our events and activities have raised money for:
  • The refurbishment of outdoor spaces, to include more seating and facilities for students to use at break and lunch times.
  • iPads for the school photography club
  • The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
  • Break time clubs and groups for students
  • Equipment for the food technology department
  • Life skills for young people such as first aid training
  • U-give Uganda
  • Extra tuition for university entrance exams

Co-op Funding

If you have a Co-op blue loyalty/membership card, you’ll get 5% cashback on any Co-op transactions you make. But did you know that Co-op also donate 1% to charity and you can choose your preferred cause?

Out of 11,000 applications, our school was selected to benefit in the current funding round but we need all parents, carers, friends and family to choose our cause here: https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/36361

The more people who select us, the more money our school receives. Please take a minute to help us and share this link with friends and family. If you don’t have a card, now is a good time to join and support your children, as well as earning 5% cashback for yourself. Thank you.

Easy Fundraising

Did you know that whenever you buy anything online - from your weekly shop to your annual holiday - you could be raising a free donation for MSPTA?

There are nearly 3,000 retailers including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's, who will donate a percentage of the amount you spend to MSPTA to say thank you for shopping with them.

MSPTA 50/50 Club

To join the 50:50 club, there is a one-off yearly payment of £10 per number. Half of the money you contribute goes directly towards our school fundraising and the other half goes into a monthly prize fund.  The 1st prize is 50% of the monthly prize fund, while 2nd and 3rd numbers each receive 25%.  The more participants we have, the bigger the prize money, and of course, the more money our school receives.

Please purchase as many numbers as you like and feel free to encourage friends and family to join in.  Our preferred method of payment is via ParentMail , the school’s online payments system.  Should you wish to pay by cheque (£10 per number) please make it payable to The Minster School PTA, place in an envelope addressed to the MSPTA and post it in the Student Services Mailbox.
