Every student is supported to succeed at The Minster Junior School. Our curriculum is designed to make sure all pupils make excellent progress towards the expected standards in reading, writing and maths. The curriculum is carefully mapped out to ensure junior school pupils receive the full curriculum experience, including specialist provision in many subjects provided by teachers from the main school.
Homework (usually around 1 hour per week) is a part of the school’s expectations and this largely focuses on the development of the core skills needed to succeed at the end of key stage 2, including practising maths problem-solving, reading and learning spellings. The school has a track record of success with more than 80% of pupils achieving the required national standards at the end of junior school in each of the last three years.

The Junior School has a year 3/4 class and a year 5/6 class, each having an average of 20 pupils. Each has its own designated primary specialist teacher.
