Every year students at The Minster School achieve impressive examination outcomes in a wide range of subjects. Our excellent results have supported students to make the transition very successfully to college, University, apprenticeship and employment as they leave the school.  

We are so proud of our students and the grades they achieve every year and this year is no exception. These grades were earnt through hard work during their time in school and are an excellent set of outcomes.

Some key successes at GCSE :

  • 85% of students achieved a grade 4 or better (pass) in both English and maths. 66% archived a grade 5 or better (good pass) in both English and maths.
  • The average grade achieved (also known as the Attainment 8 average grade) was 5.72, considerably above the level of a good pass.

Performance tables for 2020 and 2021 were not published due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2018 The Minster School became an academy, the 2022 results are published here.

Published results - year 11 (2023) 

  • 85% of students achieved a grade 4 or better (pass) in both English and maths. 66% achived a grade 5 or better (good pass) in both English and maths.
  • The average grade achieved (also known as the Attainment 8 average grade) was 5.72, considerably above the level of a good pass.
  • The school's progress 8 measure is 0.31. This means students' progress between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4 was considerably better than the national average. 
  • 42% of students entered the EBacc.

Published results - year 11 (2022) 

  • 88% of students achieved a grade 4 or better (pass) in both English and maths. 65% achived a grade 5 or better (good pass) in both English and maths.
  • The average grade achieved (also known as the Attainment 8 average grade) was 5.83, considerably above the level of a good pass.
  • The school's progress 8 measure is 0.37. This means students' progress between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4 was considerably better than the national average. 
  • 48% of students entered the EBacc.
 

Published results - year 11 (2021) 

  • 87% of students achieved a grade 4 or better (pass) in both English and maths. 71% achieved a grade 5 or better (good pass) in both English and maths.
  • The average grade achieved (also known as the Attainment 8 average grade) was 6.0, considerably above the level of a good pass.
  • This year no progress measures were generated, due to the exceptional circumstances in which grades were awarded.

Published results - year 11 (2020) 

  • 84% of students achieved a grade 4 or better (pass) in both English and maths. 59% achieved a grade 5 or better (good pass) in both English and maths.
  • The average grade achieved (also known as the Attainment 8 average grade) was 5.8, considerably above the level of a good pass.
  • This year no progress measures were generated, due to the exceptional circumstances in which grades were awarded.

Published results - year 11 (2019) 

  • 79% of students achieved a grade 4 or better (pass) in both English and maths. 56% archived a grade 5 or better (good pass) in both English and maths.
  • The average grade achieved (also known as the Attainment 8 average grade) was 5.39, considerably above the level of a good pass.
  • The school's progress 8 measure is 0.21. The Department for Education class this as 'above average' meaning students' progress between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4 was better than the national average. On average The Minster School students achieved one fifth of a grade higher than similar students elsewhere.

  • 84% of students achieved a grade 4 or better (pass) in both English and maths.  59% achieved a grade 5 or better (good pass) in both English and maths.
  • The Progress 8 measure for the school is 0.34 - showing students at the Minster School do considerably better than expected as compared to their prior ability.

HIGH PERFORMING SCHOOL FOR GCSE
  • 57% of students were entered for the EBacc suite of qualifications (as compared to 38.4% nationally).  29% achieved a grade 5 or better in all the individual EBacc subjects 16.7% nationally) and 39% achieved a grade 4 or better in all individual subjects. 

Published results - year 11 (2017) 

  • 98% of leavers (end of year 11) sustained education, employment or training as compared to 94% nationally.
  • 51% of students were entered for the EBacc suite of qualifications as compared to 35% nationally.  26% achieved a grade 5 or better in all the individual EBacc subjects (19.7% for the whole country).
